Simple Sweet Inspiration
I'm at it again.. and this is the second week in a row I was going to make something different and then was inspired by a blog post I read - this time at 504 Main, which is a fabulous blog, IMHO (in my humble opinion).

I am NOT going to recreate the wheel... Click on the link above for directions... I will take some pictures along the way as I make them, but for a fuller more complete explanation, you might want to pop over!

After seeing her idea of a homemade Christmas card, I was so excited to try it myself... I just happen to have Christmas themed paper (though you can use wrapping paper if you need to) and started tearing.  I have no fancy paper tearing tool... I just use a ruler and tear along the edge... doesn't make it super fancy looking, but still makes it cute.

So this was a bit of a fast forward... I tore some paper (1 green pattern, 1 red pattern and one that was a happy mix) and I found and printed the message on the inside, and cut the paper down to size.

If you click on the above image, you should be able to read what it says inside.
I printed this message on the "inside" of the card by
(1) taking a (8.5 x 11") cardstock,
(2) Using Publisher, I made the page layout be "landscape"
(3) Found the poem online,
(4) decided I wanted the card to be 4" wide when it was folded, so I
(5) Made a text box (3" wide), and positioned it between the 4.5 and 7.5 (to make half inch margins) and
(6) Cut and paste the poem,
(7) Adjusted the fonts and colors and
(8) PRINTED IT! - I then
(9) Cut 3" off the "right" side of the page and TADA!
(10) Folded it in half, and now
I have a 4" x 8.5" card that fits in a business sized envelope (or #10 I think)

Rather than using ribbon for the trunk like Holly suggested, I had some gold cardstock that I cut into 1/2 inch strips...

Lined up the ripped paper, glued the middle, and using a ruler,  I marked off the tree...

Then I cut the edges where I marked... and I have no pictures of this BUT I made a BIG mess stamping ornaments on the sides and a star (which is invisible) on the top...  Glued down the trunk and....

Ta DA - A homemade card... took me about 10 minutes... but a lot of that was hunting up the materials)

SO... who wants some?!  This week's giveaway is 10 Christmas cards... I know it's not going to cover your list, but they would be a nice touch to give to neighbors or close friends with your homemade Christmas gifts!

If I reach 50 followers by next Sunday, I will give not ONE but TWO readers 10 homemade Christmas Cards.
