Sunday Soaking - Are you sure? Are you certain?

Hello! You are reading a scheduled posting. I am taking a hiatus from blogging so I can be with my family for Christmas and then in DISNEYLAND for 5 days! I will miss you, some. Feel free to comment, I will get back to you on New Year's Eve.

Now onto today's Soaking.

Did you know that the word “faith” appears in the Bible 256 times? – What is faith?

faith: a (1): belief and trust in and loyalty to God (2): belief in the traditional doctrines of a religion b (1): firm belief in something for which there is no proof (2): complete trust 3: something that is believed especially with strong conviction; especially : a system of religious beliefs

Hebrews 11:1-2 Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for.

What about you? What do you have faith in?
During this time of year it seems like many people really try to align themselves with a particular belief system.  If you attend church regularly, you will find a shocking number of people filling the pews at the Christmas Eve service or on the Christmas Sunday service.  Why is this? I would say that it is tradition.  Probably nothing else.

Do you believe that you can have faith without the actions to back it up?  There are many things in our lives that we believe in.  We believe that when we turn the key in the ignition, it will start the car.
We believe that when we open a fresh jug of milk that it will be fresh, and not sour.
We believe that when we turn the faucet, water will come out.  I could go on but why?
In almost every circumstance, faith seems to be predicated on concept that we are first doing something.

What do you have faith in?  I believe that God is God, and He is good.  I believe Jeremiah 29:11: For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

I believe this because I have had many times in my life where things seemed like God had dropped the ball.  But I KNOW that God is still God during those times.  Because He is still God, I know that means that He has a plan, and not one to cause me harm.  So I wait on Him.  Sure enough I come out on the other side... and my faith has been put into action.

Faith:  You've gotta have it. Even George Michaels says so.

Just me, AJ

  2. Looking back, I see where God has steered me in another direction. At the time, I'm always thinking "WHAT?! This can't be right". Then a few days, months, years later I'm like "ooooh. I see. Thanks God."
