Today's Verse: Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends…1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (ESV)

I don't know about you, but when I read the above passage I begin to feel pretty discouraged.  It's hard to imagine being this loving.

Have you ever read the passage and where-ever it says "love", put your name in?  I have.  It's probably why I find it discouraging... or amusing, depending on the day.

This is one that we use for weddings frequently, and I can see why.  Because that is how I want to be loved.

That's how God loves us.

I assume the reason why it is spelled out so completely is because the scriptures are always telling us that we should love one another, but the WAY to love one another is not always so obviously given to us.

I am sure it is because everyone loves differently.  I find this list to be overwhelming all together, but one at a time I can relax enough to try.  If nothing else, at least I know how I can love better.

Love is patient and kind and rejoices in the truth.  Love is not arrogant or rude.  Love does not throw temper tantrums to get it's own way.  It doesn't hold grudges and gripe at it's spouse in the morning.  Love gives lots of chances, it's merciful and graceful.  It believes in someone even when they've failed.  It hopes for the best, even when there is no reason.  It puts up with so much, because the other person is worth it.  It never threatens to leave.

By the world's standards Love is being a bit of a door mat.

By God's standards, Love is being strong in HIS strength, and being filled with His grace.

It doesn't abandon someone when they've made a mistake.

We are beautiful when we Love like God.
