Verse of the Day: There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.  We love because he first loved us.  1 John 4:18-19

What are you afraid of?  There are so many phobias to choose from:
Arachnophobia - Fear of Spiders
Social Phobia - Social phobia is the fear of being misjudged or the fright of being accused unreasonably.
Aerophobia fear of flying.
Agoraphobia - fear and avoidance of any place or situation where escape might be difficult
Claustrophobia Fear of being trapped in small confined spaces.
Acrophobia - Fear of heights
Emetophobia - Fear of vomit
Carcinophobia - Extreme fear of cancer
Brontophobia - Fear of thunderstorms.
Necrophobia - Fear of death

The list could go on and on.  What does the above passage really mean?  I would guess that it's not dealing with everyday fears, though you could argue that we shouldn't be afraid because God is taking care of us.

I believe that "there is no fear in love" refers to the idea that God's love is so complete that we don't have anything to fear from Him.  He is gracious, merciful and loving.  While in human relationships we may have had experiences where we were rejected, abandoned, neglected or abused, that is not the kind of Love God shows.  There is no fear in love, because there is no end to love.

In the same way, I feel challenged to try to live my life in such a way that reflects this same type of love.  Let me tell you, so far I'm not doing so well.   I think that we should love in this open, free and arms wide open way.  Not in a door mat type of way, but in a merciful, forgiving, gracious and kind sort of way.

Be quick to love and slow to become angry.

Easier said than done.  I like my little spiky ball of resentment as much as the next girl, but the reality is that it is beautiful to be loving, forgiving and kind.

I want to be that kind of beautiful.
