Don't Give Up! {Galatians 6:9}

Today's Verse: So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Galatians 6:9 (NLT)

What an encouraging verse (or convicting depending on where you are in your walk)!  Do you ever get tired of the day in- day out challenges of living a life set-apart?

If you don't know what I am talking about, let me remind you that as Christians, as Christ followers, we should be different from the rest of the world.  Set-apart.  Not separate, not above or looking down our noses at them, but different.  There should be something about us that is a little "off".

I am not suggesting that we should be weird. Though maybe I am.  We should seem different because we have Christ and the Holy Spirit in us.  The presence of the Holy Spirit indwelling impacts people around us.  Sometimes in a positive way.  Sometimes in a negative way.

The last 10 or so days of the month will be describing the different ways we should be different.  Just trust me (if you don't agree) that Christians should be different.

I get tired just thinking about the things I should be doing to reflect the compassion of God, not to mention just exercising self-control when it comes to controlling my tongue.   But here he tells us to not get tired of doing what is good, because we will reap a "harvest of blessing" if we DON'T GIVE UP!

It sounds worth it.  It sounds beautiful.

That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. 2 Corinthians 4:16 (NLT)

And have you forgotten the encouraging words God spoke to you as his children?He said,“My child,don’t make light of the Lord’s discipline, and don’t give up when he corrects you. Hebrews 12:5 NLT

Don’t envy sinners, but always continue to fear the Lord. Proverbs 23:17

Go also wants us to remember that we shouldn't "envy sinners".  A reminder that seems ridiculous, but in practice can be hard.  You look around you and see the money some people make in less-than-honest ways and you almost envy them the lack of conviction they have.  You might feel that it's "not fair" they can get away with it when you have to live a life of integrity.  Don't give up!

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:24-25

Finally, a reminder of one of the ways we maintain the longevity and resilience in our faith, by spurring one another on, by meeting with other believers.

Don't Give UP!  It's worth it!  It's BEAUTIFUL!
