I am HIS MASTERPIECE {Ephesians 2:10}

Today's Verse: For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)

My daughter is an artist.

She's only 7 and already she is an extremely prolific artist.  She creates 3-4 significant works of art every single day.  Each one is unique.  Each one is her "favorite".  My favorite part of her art?  That she always creates these works of art FOR someone.

This drawing is for her teacher, this one for her grandma.  This mosaic is for her best friend (she really likes ponies - she explains), this lovely sculpture for Sunday school teacher.   Don't get me wrong, I get to keep a good 25% of what she creates, but so much of it goes out to brighten someone else's day.

I think of all of these things she has created and I am well aware of how much of herself she pours into each one.  She creates, and imagines how much her latest "masterpiece" will thrill it's intended owner.

Don't you think this is how God is?  Often the focus of these verse is the part that says "We are God's Masterpiece", and it should be!  That I am "a work done with extraordinary skill", makes me feel humble and glad.   I think that there is the second part that is equally as important, that He created us for a purpose.

Like my little girl and her art, when God created us, He created us with a purpose in mind.  I imagine that as He created, He happily considered what "good things" we were going to do.  He formed us bit by bit and creatively designed us with those "good things" already thought out and put into motion, he gave us the skills, abilities and passions to successfully complete those "good things".

May you be one of the masterpieces that manages to find YOUR "good thing" to do, and do it faithfully.

From one masterpiece to another... when we fulfill our purpose... we are BEAUTIFUL!

  1. Aww....this is wonderful. It's hard sometimes to think of myself as a masterpiece because I know my sinful heart. This is where I must trust His love. Thanks for sharing this. Xoxo
