As the Election 2012 dust settles... what our next step is...

The Election is over.  Let the Facebook wars continue!  The explosion of political cartoons, and fear mongering dooms-dayers and gloating is a little overwhelming and annoying.  If you are a Christian, however, maybe you should do something different...

1. START PRAYING.
I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them.Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. 1 Timothy 2:1-2
I will make this simple. Doesn't matter who you voted for.  First and foremost, pray for all people.  Pray for the USA.  Pray for President Obama.

It's what God tells us to do.  Not because "we are all going to die" or "the world is coming to an end" or "He's going to destroy America".  Because it's what we are called to do.

Stop gloating (if you voted for Obama).  Stop whining and posting and tweeting fearful things (if you voted for Romney).  Start praying.

because...

2. GOD CHOSE HIM.
He said,“Praise the name of God forever and ever, for he has all wisdom and power. He controls the course of world events; he removes kings and sets up other kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the scholars. He reveals deep and mysterious things and knows what lies hidden in darkness, though he is surrounded by light.  Daniel 2:20-22
Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God.  Romans 13:1
It doesn't matter if you voted for him.  It doesn't matter if you are convinced he hates Americans or is a closet Muslim or has some nefarious plot to destroy America.

God chose Obama.  He could have removed him, but He set him.  For 4 more years.

This post would be identical (with different names) if Romney had won.

We don't understand God's deep and mysterious things.

We don't know what He is up to.

I am okay with that.  I hope you are too.

So... grieve if you must, vent to your Republican friends, gnash your teeth, wear black clothes, shake your head, feel despondent.

Or... rejoice that your guy won, be glad that Romney wasn't elected, say obnoxious things to your Democratic friends about "dodging bullets".

Then stop.  Look around you.  Realize that there are people who voted for the other guy, and you have to be friends with them tomorrow.

Take a deep breath.  AND PRAY.

We are still "One nation under God".  He is your leader. Regardless if you agree with him.

God says that He placed him there.  God tells us to pray for him.  So, do it.  Show the world how Christians are different.

That is all.

Take a deep breath. AND PRAY."---TRUTH!!

Thank you! :) I fear the way many Christians have responded is NOT showing that we are different. and that is sad.

  2. Yes and amen! When I woke this morning my heart was heavy. I checked, it wasn't my pride. My heart hurt because I feel like our country has placed mans ideas above God's ways. I sat in prayer and sang worship songs. Spending time with my King gave me peace and He reminded me that He is in control regardless of what it may look like.

We have to be loving like Jesus commanded to everyone. That is His way and I choose Him. :-)
