This is MY home... get your own.

Today I'm angry.

I'll tell you why.

Someone was seen snooping around my neighbor's house and then peeking into my car windows this morning at 11:30am.  A man dressed all in black with a backpack.  He then walked around the block and walked down our alley, peeking into each backyard as he went.

He was just checking.  Perhaps he was looking to "help" himself to something we were no longer using.

It makes me angry because this is my home.  I don't care if someone steals my television or computer.  It would bother me for a moment, but it's just stuff.   I just don't want some tweaker walking through my yard.  I don't want him looking through my windows.  I don't want someone like that anywhere near my children.

I'm angry because this is my home, and I should feel safe at home.  I shouldn't have to check and double check the locks.  If it's not yours, you shouldn't take it.  If it's not yours, you shouldn't touch it.

TODAY, if it's not yours, you shouldn't even look at it with longing.

In the last month two cars have been stolen on my street.  What is wrong with people?  Why can't they just go get a job like a normal person?!

I feel angry because, for today, I don't feel safe inside my house, and that is NOT right.  Shame on you.  Go get a real job!

Had a God moment as I woke up and checked my email for my verse of the day.

John 10:10: "The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life."

Funny how that goes hand in hand with my little tantrum last night.  I woke up praying for the man who yesterday I was shaking my fist at.  God is pretty amazing. :)

This was written as a part of 5 minute Fridays over at Gypsy Mama

2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. And then absolutely, no ifs, ands or buts about it, you need to visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them in their comments. Seriously. That is, like, the rule. And the fun. And the heart of this community..

Hope to see you on the Linky!!

  1. How awful! I hope they catch this person. Praying that God will give you peace. Visiting from the Five Minute Friday!

  2. I'm so sorry! I will pray for peace and safety and that they catch that guy, and he stays away until they do.

    1. Just being extra careful!! It's so disconcerting!

  3. How creepy to have someone look into your yard like that. I haven't seen any of that here, but I sure wouldn't like it.

    1. I know, but it's part of where I live, a lot of drug problems, which means people looking for easy money for drugs. California... the land of beaches, mountains, beautiful land and tweakers.

  4. Did you call the police? That is really creepy...

    1. I was going to, but I didn't actually see the guy, all of my neighbors told me after the fact. The worst part is that we were home when it was happening. The police round these parts don't have time to even come out to scare them away. Sad really.

  5. Newest follower here! I found you through the blog hop! You have a super cute blog, I can't wait to read more. You can find me at

  6. Alissa,

Argh, those moments are frustrating, aren't they? Sorry.

Glad you stopped by my post "A Scary Privilege: How We As Moms Set the Tone." Wow, so we were both pondering this concept. God is tender, isn't he? Write away, friend. I'd love to read your version of it too.

You'll laugh. I couldn't figure out how to get to your blog for a little bit since I don't have a google plus account, then I found your blogs listed on a back page and put you together with this blog, which I already enjoy too. :) The Aj and the Alissa threw me off. :)

  7. That is creep Alissa! Hope he doesn't come around again!
Wanted to say thanks for stopping by my party this weekend and for following.
