A Kind Answer {Proverbs 15:1}

Verse: A kind answer soothes angry feelings, but harsh words stir them up. Proverbs 15:1

Main Idea: When someone else is mad at us, possibly even yelling at us, the way we respond can change the whole direction of the conversation.  Even though it might feel good (even natural) to shout back at them, the best way to soothe an angry person is with kind words.

2} When someone is angry at us and are speaking to us with angry words, what does the Bible tell us to do?  What would that sound like?
3} Why do you think God wants us to speak kindly in the middle of angry situations?  What is an example of a harsh word that could "stir" things up?
4} When someone is yelling at you, how does it make you feel?  Do you feel like it is easy to speak kindly to someone who is angry at you?
5} This verse comes out of Proverbs, which is a book full of good advice, or wisdom.  Have you ever tried to speaking kindly to an angry friend?  How did it change the conversation?
6} Practice responding kindly in every situation, what are some words or phrases that you could use in more than one situation to speak kindly?  Why is it important to "be prepared" for this type of conversation?
