Thankful for Every Blessing {James 1:17}

Verse: Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. James 1:17

Main Idea:  Everything we have is a gift from God.

2} Last week's verse reminds us to be thankful because of God's goodness and love.  One aspect of God's goodness is the fact that He gives us good things.  What is an example of something in your life that is a "good and perfect gift"?
3} This week's verse talks about God as the  "Father of the heavenly lights" who "does not change".  What does that mean to you?
4} Think about all the blessings you have in your life.  The verse talks about our blessings as "gifts", do you feel like God picked these blessings out especially for you?  How does that make you feel?
5} Sometimes it is not easy to find those things in our life that seem "good and perfect", when we feel sad or discouraged, how can we focus on those things that are blessings?
6}Share 3 things {that are different from last week's list} that are blessings you thank God for?

This is the second week in this theme!

  1. I love the topic of being thankful, grateful and blessing. As I reflect on these things, I draw closer to Him.

  2. We could all continue to use more and more reminders of being grateful. Yes, it is hard in the moment of hard things to always be thankful, but it does help somehow. Glad to have stopped by. It has been too long.

  5. So glad you stopped by!! Thankfulness is a discipline, just like anything else in our Christian walk... isn't it? Hope my kiddos learn this lesson young!

  6. Me too. I think one of my favorite verses is about how the rocks will cry out if I don't praise Him. So I praise Him! :) Thanks for the sweet comment!
